FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
You can trust PRO SERIES® products for treatment of your pool & spa
We manufacture specialty cleaning products to deal with tough pool problems. We're here to help you understand more about our products and how they cant uniquely help your pool and spa problems.
DO I HAVE TO CLEAN MY FILTER AFTER ADDING PHOSREMOVE?
When treating with PhosRemove, you should let the system run continuously for 48 hours and then vacuum the pool. After vacuuming, you should clean the filter if the pressure has risen 10psi over start-up. You should also ensure that the filter is clean prior to starting a PhosRemove treatment which will allow the product to work more efficiently.
WHY DO I NEED TO ADD A STAIN & SCALE CONTROL PRODUCT WEEKLY?
While these products can assist in the stain removal process, they are also need to be used as maintenance treatments. Metals that cannot be fully removed through the filtration system (especially in sand and cartridge filters) are kept in suspension by Stain & Scale Control. Calcium molecules are deformed so they can’t stick together to form scale and other metals are kept in solution so they don’t settle back on a surface to cause recurrent staining. For difficult to control metal-based staining or calcium control, you can use Extra Strength Stain & Scale Control.
ARE PHOSPHATES REALLY A PROBLEM?
Phosphates come from a wide variety of sources, some of the most common being:
- Fertilizers (if you have a landscaping service, there is a good chance your pool will have issues with phosphates)
- Many stain & scale products that are sold in the swimming pool industry are phosphonic or phosphoric acid based-while these products do a great job at protecting from stain and scale, they also increase phosphate levels significantly. It is ideal to use a stain & scale control like PRO SERIES® Stain & Scale Control that does not contribute to unwanted phosphate contamination
- Dirt/Dust
- Rain
- Soaps (if one chooses to bathe in a pool, which we hope you do not, it will add phosphates to the water)
- Some cleaning products (ex: many tile cleaners will add to phosphate levels
WHAT ARE ENZYMES?
Enzymes are non-living protein molecules that bind to non-living waste and break it down piece by piece until it is water, air, and other building blocks. Enzymes can be used in a maintenance form for benefits such as increased filter run cycles and less scrubbing of scum lines OR they can be used as problem solvers to break down dead algae or treat specific pool or spa problems.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT TO SHOCK THE POOL AFTER ADDING PRO SERIES® PROZYMES OR PRO BLEND?
It's ideal for the chlorine level to be below 5ppm when you add the product.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROZYMES POOL AND PRO BLEND?
ProZymes Pool is an enzyme and clarifier product while Pro Blend contains enzymes, clarifier and phosphate remover.
ARE PROZYMES AND PROZYMES SPA THE SAME PRODUCT?
No! These two products are formulated differently based on both water temperature (ProZymes Spa should be used when temps are above 95 degrees) and the type of waste you'll see in pools versus spas. The pool formula (ProZymes Pool) targets non-living bather waste AND environmental factors like pollen. The spa formulation targets the non-living waste you typically see in hot tub water such as hair products, lotions, and oils.
WHY DOES MY POOL CLOUD WHEN I ADD PRO SERIES® PHOSREMOVE?
The clouding that occurs is a visible reaction between the PhosRemove product and the phosphates found in the water. The higher the phosphate level in the water, the more extensive you can expect the clouding to be. It simply means the product is working. The pool will clear on it's own as the phosphates are filtered, but if you would like to speed up the process you can add PRO SERIES® Extra Strength Clarifier after adding PhosRemove.
HOW LONG DO I NEED TO WAIT BEFORE SHOCKING AFTER ADDING PRO SERIES® EXTRA STRENGTH CLARIFIER?
You don't have to wait at all! In fact, it's ideal to shock at the same time as adding PRO SERIES® Extra Strength Clarifier.
HOW DOES PRO SERIES® FILTER CLEANER WORK?
The PRO SERIES® Filter Cleaner is highly effective enzyme-based filter cleaner. When added to the filter media, the enzymes break down the non-living contaminants that build up on the filter media. Removing the contaminants will help clean the filter media and maximize filter performance.
WHY DOES THE COLOR VARY IN YOUR PHOSPHATE REMOVAL PRODUCTS?
Our phosphate removers contain lanthanum, which is a mined rare earth mineral and can often look different in appearance. The product is still efficacious regardless of its color.
